This convenient multi-function tool offers a rapid, one-step solution for puncturing 1/2" drip tubing and installing Rain Bird dripper/emitters or 1/4" fittings. It also allows for the quick installation or removal of Rain Bird spot watering emitters, 1/4" barbed fittings, and 1/4" tubing "goof plugs".
To use the tool, simply place an emitter or fitting into the specialized opening at the end, then press the barbed point into the side wall of the 1/2" tubing. As you pull the tool away, the emitter or fitting will be embedded in the tubing, ready for you to slide 1/4" tubing onto it.
For the easiest penetration of the 1/2" drip tubing, it's recommended to use a slight twisting motion when inserting the barbed 1/4" emitters or fittings. This technique reduces the downward force required and helps prevent the tubing from becoming flattened, which could lead to penetration through the opposite side.
To remove emitters or fittings, simply use the notch on the side of the tool. The larger hole located in the handle end of the Emitter Tool can be used to insert "goof plugs" to seal holes in the 1/2" drip tubing. The Rain Bird "goof plugs" feature small ridges that hold them firmly in the tool; these ridges flatten slightly when the plug is inserted, allowing for easy deployment into the tubing.
The highly visible purple color of the tool makes it easy to spot in grass, soil, bark, mulch, and other outdoor environments.
